The City’s Public Works Sustainability Division, in partnership with South Pasadena Beautifuland Friends of the Nature Park, is excited to hold this year’s Sustainability Fair, Garden Tour, and Plant Swap on March 29th from 1pm-4pm at the South Pasadena Arroyo Seco Woodland and Wildlife Park (also known as the Nature Park). The Sustainability Fair is a free event for the whole family, packed with engaging activities designed to inspire our community to embrace a sustainable, eco-friendly way of life.

Sustainability Fair
Meet the Environmental Services and Sustainability team of the City of South Pasadena to discuss crucial programs aimed at enhancing our city’s environmental initiatives. Learn about the City’s water conservation rebate program, leaf blower ban and incentives, and new organics recycling regulations. Connect with members of various environmental organizations, chat with a master gardener, learn about local resources, and gain insights on how you can adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Plant Swap and Native Plant Giveaway
Once again, South Pasadena Beautiful will host its popular annual plant swap. The public is encouraged to participate by bringing a labeled plant to exchange (limit the number of plants/cuttings to avoid excess). Bartlett Tree Experts, Bellefontaine Nursery, and Artemisia Nursery have generously donated native and low water use plants to add to the assortment of plants to choose from.

Garden Workshop
Antonio Sanchez of the Santa Monica Mountains Fund will be leading a workshop, “Growing your own Native Plants from Cuttings and Seeds.” Participants will learn how to root cuttings of natives like monkeyflowers, sages, and bush sunflowers. The workshop will also share tips on when and how to successfully grow native plants from seeds.

Garden Tour
Join us for a relaxed stroll through the park, guided by knowledgeable volunteers, during this year’s Garden Tour. Immerse yourself in South Pasadena’s stunning superbloom, and let kids enjoy the Story Path or take part in a Nature Scavenger Hunt.

Getting There
The Upper Entrance of the park is located in the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue, east of the York Boulevard Bridge. Trails lead down to the Lower Entrance where the fair will be set up. Street parking is available.
The Lower Entrance is just past the Arroyo Seco Golf Course driving range. Parking is available in the lots on Lohman Lane. Walk westward on the paved shared-use path at the west end of Lohman Lane.
Bike Valet for Cyclists
South Pas Active will be hosting a free Bike Valet at the Lower Entrance of the Nature Park. See our City’s native plants while also enjoying its river front bike path!
