Trees at TIFR

The trees on the campus of the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR) are truly amazing. I have not done nearly enough looking and photographing so this will be my project for our remaining two days here. To start off, check out the flowers and fruits of this tree. It is called the canon ball tree (Couroupita guianensis) because of its fruits. In fact, I learned that there is often a sign posted to warn people that it is dangerous to linger beneath the tree. Would have been nice to know. The tree itself isn’t much to look at, but check out these flowers!

Is this amazing or what?

These fruits just fall off spontaneously, no warning, just klunk!

The flower looks invented; like they came out of a James Cameron film. Pamela
