Correction: Sorry but it is Carol of May Dreams Gardens who sponsors the monthly GBBD. I’ve corrected it below. Once again, thanks go to Carol!
It’s the middle of the month, Garden Bloggers Bloom Day – GBBD, (thank you, Carol) but I have decided to post a Garden Bloggers not Bloom Day. My garden does have blooms: yellow goldenrod, red California fuchsia, blue-black wild grapes, cream buckwheat. But it is August and I feel brown. So my photos for this late summer month are of plants in seed or wearing buds for next year’s flowers or leaves.
Seed pods of farewell-to-spring (Clarkia amoena)
Seeds of soap plant (Chlorogalum pomeridianum var. divaricatum)
Nascent flowers of Sentinel manzanita (Arctostaphylos ‘Sentinel’)
Seed pods of blue flax (Linum lewsii)
Fuchsia-flowering gooseberry (Ribes speciosum) going dormant
What a great way to capture the true August-ness of the garden!
You've definitely captured the overall colors of the season. I'd trade a thousand flowers for just a few leaves of Roger's Red.
Thanks, QbC and James. I've been enjoying the grapes from R.R. too. Getting sweeter each day, but I dare not wait or the birds beat me to them.
